    Pam & Ed Have you tried setting it to a lower and lower temp when it is overheating.  If it does turn off and maintains it at 70 when you have it at 60 (for example) it could just be out of calibration.  That unit may have a mechanical bimetal switch for...  more

    Toobwoozl I set it all the way down to 55 and it kept running. I had to turn the thermostat to off for the furnace to start its cool down cycle.

    Pam & Ed If the cover comes off easily I would open the thermostat and see if it has a bimetal thermostat and that the contacts open and close as you move the temp adjust.  If they don't that is your issue. If they do you could just visually inspect the wirin...  more
