Thought for the day: My earliest memory of appreciating nature was at my grandmother's house when I was about 9, listening to the Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofe on her phonograph. It consisted of five movements, each an evocation in tone of a particular scene typical of the Grand Canyon. I believe the album was recorded by the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra... I would stare at the pictures on the cover and absorb the music for hours. I loved the Grand Canyon decades before I had ever seen it.
