Just finished my first 3-day rotation as a Park Host volunteer at Jennings Ferry Park & Campground (Corps of Engineers) in Akron, Alabama. Most of my training has been completed and my next shift starts Monday. We work 3 days on (from 6:00 am on the day your shift begins until 6:00 am on the day after your shift ends) and then we have 6 days off. This is a beautiful park with 52 sites and a public boat launch on the Warrior Lake, part of the Black Water River COE Lock & Dam at Jennings Ferry. The COE provides 3 t-shirts for volunteers, but you are not required to wear them. Almost any attire is acceptable: jeans, shorts, etc. Here are a few pictures.
