"Let's go to the beach!!" I said . . . the doggies got excited about a smorgasbord of dead fish, seashells, trash, and hooks, so here we are! We've all been freezing since late Wednesday (none of my dogs have fur) and it's not letting up until sometime t...  more

Andy This isn't a regular occurrence, certainly not for early December.  The great thing about the gulf is that if you don't like the weather, stick around for a day or two, it'll change.  By the end of the weekend I'll wager the wind has died down a...  more

Andy Oh my goodness, that is unfortunate and also makes me want to think about slide topper pros and cons.  The cold front should continue to slide East-Northeast and I'm pretty sure tomorrow will be a bright, clear day with much less wind.  Tanner h...  more

Andy Howdy Owen and welcome to the Hill Country.  There are lots of nice places around Austin, depending on how near the city you want to be.  There are more options North North-West of Austin proper but you'll be hard pressed to make a wrong choice....  more

    Hi All,

I'm itching to get back in my rolling home - just days away from having the funds to make my next purchase. I've narrowed my list of local used RV's, and am getting ready to go out and inspect a few. Part of me, though, is still angst'ing abou...  more

Jean777 Those are great!  The very first one hooked me on the class b, then I watched one about the solo woman in her home-made van, and then one on a van with solar power - though that was a little too minimalist for me.  I am more on the fence than ever now!

Jean777 I think I finally got that out of my system.  The minimalism is fun to imagine, but for solo full-time living, I think I'll go Class C - so I can invite friends and family in, take a shower, and other sorts of niceties.  Thanks, June, for helpin...  more

June MN A big part of it for me would be if my RV was my complete home ......... currently I have a S&B, but I also have extensive family in this area as well. Once, I thought I was going to Maui for about 6 months, ended up staying almost 10 years. But I had box...  more Hide 3 Replies

Jean777 All last year, my RV - a 20' trailer - was my home, and I loved the size.  I filled it with a lot of stuff I didn't think I could do without - my sewing machine, a library, every season clothes - and it was comforting in a way (and under the weight l...  more

Andy S&B probably refers to "sticks and bricks"; conventional housing.  A nice big shower is a must for me.  I tow a small trailer so I can take all my favorite things but often get hotel/motel rooms just for the shower.  Another issue I have is...  more

Jean777 Andy, yes I've seen those upholstered easy chairs and thought those would be a great addition to my next rig - but I don't think I'll get one in a class C - but I can see that being a major life improvement .  Dropping a trailer (fifth wheel or other...  more

Andy Howdy Jean - I've been agonizing over my planned upgrade from a class B to a 5th wheel.  My pleasureway really is a pleasure but I find that it is just a wee bit too small for me and my dog for full timing.  When I think of the 5th wheel, it see...  more Hide 1 Reply

Andy Hi June - I feel very fortunate that my sticks and bricks has no mortgage or HOA, has a few fenced acres for the dog to run and is in an area where winter isn't harsh, but it makes it all the more difficult to _really_ go full time.  It's kind of a l...  more
