I lived in Missouri the last 12 year's in a rural area and fought snow and ice the 30 miles to work in the winter. I come to Texas this winter and it snows! It hasn't done that here since 2004. Good news is not much snow on the palm trees and grapefruit trees.

MaryAnnWendland In other times, I would tell you that Port Aransas is a wonderful idea. How about South Padre? Beautiful beaches and great food. A true South Texas experience.
    • ScottnRonda
Garyanita the Rio Grande Valley was not affected by the hurricane... neither was South Padre.....

FLitters You should probably avoid the upper TX coast this year. It is pretty well destroyed right now. Port Isabel and South Padre are great as is the Rio Grande Valley.

FLitters Be sure to see the river walk in SA and take a boat tour of it. It's a good way to see the whole thing and hear the history. Also the Pearl district, King William district, the Mercado, mission trail, ride to the top of the hemisphere tower for a meal or ...  more

MH283 Port Isabel is not typical of Texas, take time to go over to the Rio Grande Valley, and to see some of the historical sights in the surrounding areas.

MH283 We winter in McAllen, which is very close to Alamo. Tips: bring your passports so you can go to Mexico, take advantage of all the activities your park has, and take advantage of all the activies the Rio Grande Valley has for Winter Texans!
