pjm1128 Haven't picked date for retirement yet but it's creeping ever closer. Probably no more than a year away, if not sooner.

Tomcamper Any purchase from a private sale is a crap shoot unless you have the unit inspected by a competent source. Most will tell you everything works, rarely the case. You are better served with an outfit such as Camping world.

Joe Kegley thanks Tom I have seen a few very nice units there and a few dealerships not too far away I tend to over research things I was in the car business over 30 yrs so I know all claims are relative the vehicle is always worth more to the seller than the buyer lol

pjm1128 If you find a rig you like, might check into having a certified RV inspector check it out...for a fee of course, but kinda like a home inspection. They give you a little better idea of the shape of the rig and its components.

Well, we're still shopping for an RV and have started to like the class A's. Can y'all share any of the problems or limitations of having an RV that is longer than 35 feet?

pjm1128 I think many nat'l park campgrounds limit size of rigs. I'm told provincial parks in Canada do as well. Not speaking from personal experience but have traveled with a friend with a 40 footer.

Kathys outdoor adventures We are shopping for a Class A also. There are some limitations to parks and campsites. From what I have read you want to stay under 32 ft unless you have a toad. Also if your boon-docking you want to keep it this length so you can go off the main roads easier
    • B & C RV
Sonny and Linda Depends on where you plan to camp. The shorter the better for more options. Also keep ground clearance in mind.

pjm1128 Not sure where I read this, but good info:  Want to camp in a National Park? Camper Report dot com reports the following in a very interesting article –

Bruce & Linda (Omnibus) Yes, if you plan to spend a lot of time in state/national forests/parks you will be better served by a smaller (shorter) rig.  And if that is how you plan to RV, or at least want that option, there are some very nice, smaller MHs available, and you s...  more

DeanCHS1980 Outstanding! The GMC vintage motorhomes  are very cool. Looks like a great plan to do a few things to it, travel, figure our what mods and upgrades you want, then making it your own. Enjoy!
