      Suzan and Art You can't legally be in the US for more than 6 months in last 12 months anyways. Did you leave the rig in the US when you went back to Canada over the holidays? We also have Aviva but I think there is a 6 month in the US limit.

        MichRich57 Suzan & Art, yes, we went home for the birth of twin granddaughters and stayed for Christmas, grandson's 2nd birthday and New Years.  So we aren't over the six months just the bus.

    I keep my smart phone from Canada. Rec calls and voicemail - but do not use it to call out. I have a tracphone in the USA and use it to make all calls. Costs approx. 7 cents per min. and if i use it to call canada, the it runs about 14 cents a min.

      Garyanita I didn't think it was that much.. calls to US and Canada same price with Pay as you go, and access number... have had Tracfone for years now

      And we buy the plan below, for a one time $125, 1,500 minutes.

      Gilthoniel I have 2 sim cards: when I cross the border, I switch them over. In Canada, I'm with Koodo; in the US, I'm with AT&T. Works well for me.

      Gilthoniel That's right. My kids and friends in Canada tend to text, Message, or Skype - my American contacts would phone - so it worked well.

    Would like some info on how I can keep my own phone number and get a roaming plan for the USA. My iPhone is the only phone I have and my link for everything so I don't want to buy a track phone and lose my phone number or put it on hold while travelling...ideas?

      Ron & Ginette We moved our cnd phone number to Fongo. As long as we have wifi, which we generate thru our hotspot, Verizon in US and Bell in Cnd our number can reach us. Calling out while we are in the US we use Skype.

      Heather Bloemhof In Canada, I've never seen a Canadian flag flying along side, below or above an American one.  When we had our 5er, I flew 3...CDN, US & Provincial.  Agree with etiquette part but wanted to comment about the other "side of the fence".
