As 2017 draws to a close I hope all our paddling buddies have had a great year. Despite a serious set-back to our camping/canoeing schedule last winter and spring, we got back on the water during the summer and had some great trips this fall. We finally g...  more

Today from Coastal RV Resort in Eastpoint, Fl, we drove over to St George Island to do a short paddle on the Bay side. Next we are off to Appalachacola for a lunch of raw oysters. Yummy. Let's paddle together soon.

Hello everyone! I'm exploring getting a Sea Eagle SE330 inflatable kayak, and very excited about it. I noticed someone had an issue launching an inflatable in some areas. Any info comparing solid to inflatable Kayaks? I am looking forward to hitting the water!

beach89bum So far, we've been able to find out the objection to inflatables is not simple. In one case it was as a result of someone drowning because in that particular lake something poked a hole in the inflatable and they died. Another place told us it was an outd...  more

Does anyone have the 411 on why we are not allowed to launch inflatable kayaks in many places? hard bottoms are allowed but inflatables get a "NO!".

Lee Wenk I have no idea although it may be that inflatables are lumped with beach toys.  I've been in the Grand Canyon in inflatable kayaks.

It would help if you'd tell us where you were denied permission and what time of year.

Campergates That's interesting because inflatables are the only watercraft not needing inspection in Wyoming.

Lee Wenk The barnacle problem is pervasive.  We have them in Michigan, there they are zebra mussels.  I now live in Oregon and apparently barnacles are invading here also.  Inflatables do have lots more teen tiny places for barnacle 'kids' to hang o...  more Hide 1 Reply
