      LarandSus I made  Cannelini
Beans and Farro a couple days ago. I winged it after looking at a few recipes/instructions. As soon as I get my IP out again to check the setting, I'll post (in the IP group) because it turned out really yummy.

bjbear We have 2 of them.  One in our house and one in the coach.  In my opinion, I would never buy another one.  Everything that comes out is a tasteless mush.  Although reasonably easy to clean, it takes up considerable room on the counter ...  more

bjbear It is definitely a tool/appliance for vegans which my wife and I are.  Just does not live up to the hipe in my opinion.  But that is only my opinion. Other people may have different results..

NaturalGnomad rice, beans, lentils, potatoes, squash, etc are all cooked in fractions of the time. Veggies are quickly and easily steamed. Soups require little effort (set and forget). You can pan sear and boil water as well so you don't have all of the referred heat f...  more

Sherry Good to know, Thanks Gnomad.  Now if I just didn't boondock most of the time it might be a consideration for me.  Not sure my solar panels would support it but if anyone has used it successfully off grid, I'd like to hear about it.

Bruce & Linda (Omnibus) Wow, surprised that folks have found the results tasteless and lacking in texture.  Like NaturalGnomad, the Instant Pot is a key tool in Linda’s approach to vegan/WFPB cooking.  One-pot meals, with wonderful tastes and textures, reduced cooking ...  more

Bard Often leads to calorie deficits . Raw is great but not a smart plan for most.

NaturalGnomad I get it, but it's really not too hard to get 2500-3000 calories on a raw diet. 10 bananas for a breakfast smoothie is already ~1000. It's also usually a really good ice breaker when someone sees a giant pitcher of smoothie.

Bruce & Linda (Omnibus) Not “mostly.”  We have salad fairly often, and raw veggies occasionally.  Fresh and dried fruit, or course.  As Joel Fehrman says “salad is the main dish” (or something to that effect).  Linda tends to cook a lot of vegetables, includi...  more Hide 2 Replies

Bruce & Linda (Omnibus) We have never gotten into juicing, but every time we have a smoothie I indicate to the head chef that “we should have these more often.”  :-)  Linda tends to make a lot of “one-pot” meals, partly to make it easier for her in terms of food prep a...  more
