        Steve & Diane My understanding is that if one already has a SD license, then, in order to renew their license, they need to spend one night (with receipt) anywhere in SD within 12 months of their renewal.  Then, can renew by mail.

      Debra Williams Definitely RENEW whenever possible on line.  If still a problem - perhaps a phone call or general ? to DMV ...  As full-timers had our address in NV and our driver's license etc was to that address as well...  know in some cases it gets hun...  more

    SD has more than just Mt Rushmore.
    Here in Faulkton(1/2 way between Aberdeen & Pierre) We have campsites (elec,water)at our city park with dump station, Donations requested. 4 day limit Free. After that it is $20 a day. Also several private camp grounds...  more

    If anyone decides to see more of South Dakota, come East River. The Ft Pierre National Grasslands offer dispersed camping. And they have fishing in many of the ponds on the grassland.

    Anyone stay in Kemps Kampground in Keystone SD? Would love any feedback. Our goal is visiting Mt Rushmore with toad and this campground looks close and has full hookup. We have a 36ft Class A.

      Pat Americas Mailbox in Box Elder S.D. is pretty close to Mt. Rushmore. They have a campground with full hook-ups and dry camping. I use them for my mailing service and love them. Hide 1 Reply

      Mark If you have a Passport America membership try Three Flags RV park on the west edge of Rapid City. It's fairly close to everything and you save 50% on your stay.

      SueMac Another good place in Hill City is the Bumpin' Buffalo.  Great food but not quite as fancy as the Alpine Inn.  We go there for the Fried Beef Tips...yummy
