Terry & Diane Advantage II. This gets fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. Doesn't have any adverse skin problems as do the others you mentioned.

SGM & Mrs G First, what area of the country? Second, check with your Vet... One of our two can't handle the topical, so we used Nextguard on our last trip around the Midwest and northwest. (no issues and it is made by the same folks that do the Heartguard for heart worms) Hide 1 Reply

Larry Holbrook Born & raised in the northeast, ticks & fleas were the main pest issues. When I started hanging out in Texas, heartworms were an additional concern.

I used to use Revolution (external liquid). Protects against fleas, heartworms, ear mites, ti...  more

Lindsay Amy & Chase's Adventures with Mable Thanks for your response. We live in NH and use Heartgard and in years past used Frontline but didn’t feel it was working for us so put our boy on Nexgard, so far so good.

Larry Holbrook I did have a vet in eastern Massachusetts tell me that local fleas had developed a resistance to fipronil and methoprene (the active ingredients in Frontline & PetAction Plus) - we put my dogs on a Seresto collar - the collar worked OK, but I didn't care for it -

Donna and Roy We haven’t needed to use anything yet. We don’t have a problem here. We will need to when we start traveling but will ask the dermatologist what she recommends. Dakota has reactions to some ingredients.

Dave and Char Wilson Nope, she just did turn 14 the end of March.  This was taken back in September when we first got our RV.  So, I guess she was actually 13 when the photo was taken.  Hide 1 Reply

Kaupasetic Rescue organizations can be difficult as they usually require a fenced yard. Be candid, have references prepared.
What type of dog/dogs are you looking to add to your family?

Lois Michele I'm sorry about your loss. I can't imagine being dog-less either.  As of a couple of weeks ago I am back up to 5 dogs. I have found that shelters are more interested in a good match than a conventional lifestyle (I don't RV full time but my rental "h...  more
