I have a question on pharmacy. Do you have to have a current perscription, or just know what you need? What can you and can’t you bring back across the boarder.

David & Leslie In most cases, a prescription is not required when purchasing drugs in Mexico.  But if you purchase schedule 1, 2, or 3 drugs, then bringing them across the border to the USA will result in a problem for you... assuming you get caught with them.

Gloria Cap Yep, me too. Progreso. No prescription, just know strengths and amount. I always bring back LOTS! When they ask you to declare, I just say medicine. Never had a bit of trouble.

Fro I've not had an issue, but I always carry an empty Rx bottle with my name and drug on it.. rules state you must be able to prove you have a prescription.

Everybody is talking about the great dental care in Mexico but I'm also wondering about glasses? Anybody have their eye exams/glasses done there and if so how long did it take to get the glasses? I'm needing no line bi-focals, transition lenses, no scratch.

Brett+Cheri Miller [HelloFreedom] We go every year to Algodones Optical. What we do is schedule in advance for first appointment in the morning. Getting an appointment will waive the vision exam cost. Then, after the exam we enjoy the town while they get the glasses made in about 4 hours....  more

David & Leslie Yes, there are several optometrists in Los Algodones.  You can get glasses there similar to whatever you can get in the states.  The one issue might be when getting an eye exam, the examiner is probably not as well trained in diagnosing the seve...  more

Jim & Gayle I've bought glasses in MX once and while their prices beat the U.S. they can't compare to an online source like Zenni Optical. We have been buying our glasses through them for around 15 years. I paid around $100 for no line progressives with titanium fram...  more

We'll be going to Mexico for some dental work in a couple of weeks. I've been to Los Algodones but this time we'll be further east in Nogales, south of Tuscon, AZ. I'm hoping for a recommendation from someone knowledgeable about dentist offices in the area. Thanks
