Living in Virginia, well we camp mostly in Virginia. And most campgrounds are KOA's, especially first in spring and last in fall. Our beef with one of the KOA Virginia rules is no outside...  more

Rich & Pat Tardell March 16 The reason for the restriction on transporting wood is to restrict the spread of various bugs and/or molds and fungus. It is usually illegal to transport it. Not up to the Park .

Packratphyls March 16 That is right. I agree. I have always used kiln dried wood. I even buy kiln dried hockey puck like bags to carry with me in Maine. They can be transported across state lines as there are no bugs or varmints in them. So far no problem

T and A (Our Half Dozen RV Life) March 16 Koa's in FL are the same way. I think they need to prepare the firewood sooner to give it time to dry some. It IS very frustrating.

Jacki Rizzo March 24 Even Girl Scout campgrounds prohibit the usage of outside wood due to diseases. It's not profit, it's to stop the spread of wood bearing diseases.  Sad but true.
