Cinn → Boondockers: December 27, 2019Let's help out the new boondockers in this group. What are your best water conservation tips? I keep a spray bottle of soapy water by the sink and "pre-soak" all dishes, utensils, pans, etc. before washing. That really saves on a lot of wash water.

I removed the toilet and installed a C-head composting toilet. Huge saving on water consumption not to mention no more visits to the dreaded RV dump station.

WOW never head of that kind of toilet for an RV ? So what do you do with your grey water ???

I I admit I don't understand a lot about composting toilets, but I understand about the solid waste, but what about the liquid waste? Doesn't the liquid waste go into the black tank and doesn't it needs to be don't dumpe?

Oxygenics style shower head and taking showers where you get wet, turn off water, soap up, and then rinse off are two of my biggest water savers.

We mix a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water in a spray bottle for dish cleaning. Besides saving a lot of water, vinegar is a disinfectant.

But back to the question, since I don’t “use” as much water for the toilet / black tank, I dump part of my dish water, maybe once a week down the toilet, actually I wait let it sit i the bowl until till I need to flush; I don’t leave the water pump on and have about 5 gallons of water to use to flush / clean out the bowl. Also I dump the shower water down the toilet to conserve grey water volume, even when I had FHU, but I’ve found I’m don’t quite have that much water as I used to to toss down the toilet. less

Use a cup of water when brushing teeth and rinsing brush. Save water in container while waiting for it to get hot. Yes oxygenics shower head wet, soap, rinse.

I don’t use a conditioner, unless that’s what I’m washing my hair with, that will use almosttwice as much water, so I use a leave-in conditioner. less
