    Cinn Boondockers:
December 27, 2019Let's help out the new boondockers in this group. What are your best water conservation tips? I keep a spray bottle of soapy water by the sink and "pre-soak" all dishes, utensils, pans, etc. before washing. That really saves on a lot of wash water.

Suzan and Art December 27, 2019 I use the soapy rinse water from dishes to flush the toilet after turning the water to the toilet off.

Shaerona December 27, 2019 I spray then wipe my lightly soiled utensils, cups, plates with a vinegar water mix: 2/3 vinegar to 1/2 water. Works great!

Beans and I on the Loose December 27, 2019 I removed the toilet and installed a C-head composting toilet. Huge saving on water consumption not to mention no more visits to the dreaded RV dump station.

Bchguy December 27, 2019 WOW never head of that kind of toilet for an RV  ?  So what do you do with your grey water  ???
      • Cinn
AZRickey December 27, 2019 I I admit I don't understand a lot about composting toilets, but I understand about the solid waste, but what about the liquid waste? Doesn't the liquid waste go into the black tank and doesn't it needs to be don't dumpe?
      • Cinn
Mike and Lesia's Odyssey December 28, 2019 On ours, the liquid goes into a bottle that has to be dumped. If I ever get around to it, I will install a pipe to the black tank. Right now the black tank is just sitting there, but we can use it if the gray tanks get full. The gray tanks still have to b...  more

toomanyhobbies December 27, 2019 Oxygenics style shower head and taking showers where you get wet, turn off water, soap up, and then rinse off are two of my biggest water savers.

Joe D December 27, 2019 I'm thinking about getting the oxygenics shower head, seen them in Walmart and was wondering how the worked.

Cinn December 27, 2019 Oxygenics shower head works great. Lots of pressure and a few choices of settings.

Mike and Lesia's Odyssey December 27, 2019 We went with a composting toilet. A lot of water goes down the drain with a flushing toilet.

BB&LAB December 27, 2019 We mix a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water in a spray bottle for dish cleaning. Besides saving a lot of water, vinegar is a disinfectant.

pymmint December 27, 2019 I would love to get a composting toilet, but it will probably have to be next year !  But back to the question, since I don’t “use” as much water for the toilet / black tank, I dump part of my dish water, maybe once a week down the toilet, actually I...  more

pymmint December 29, 2019 Bchguy, I have a dish pan that I use for running the water in the shower until the hot starts coming out, then I rinse all over, including my hair if it’s “wash” day 🤪, use the water in The dish pan to soap up and mostly rinse off, then as I get the shamp...  more
