May 7, 2020We've been towing a TT for over a decade... come the end of 2020, we're replacing it with either a Class A or a C...(haven't yet narrowed it down yet.) And I have a silly little question.

When planning a trip... about how far can one plan on driving in ...  more

MaJaC’s JoKaT May 7, 2020 My husband who is 82 and I plan 4-6 hours drive time between overnight stops. Kinda depends on how many big cities we have to navigate and the weather. The travel day may be up to 7 hours during DLS time, but we're always tucked in before sundown.

pokeysRVadventures May 7, 2020 My rule of thumb is 3 hours or so. After that time for a night or two at a park. I'm full time so there's no rush for me.

Kevin/Yvonne & 4 Doxies May 7, 2020 No good answer. It depends on you. Generally the most many travel is about 3 hours or a max of 250 miles. Those are the two general rules of thumb I have seen quite a few put out there. For me I ask the better half to plan on a max of 250 miles, but depen...  more

Stan & Tina May 7, 2020 3 hours is what we shoot for. We dont make reservations anywhere and often revise our routes when we find interesting detours.

      Kevin/Yvonne & 4 Doxies May 7, 2020 As stated above, most prefer to be set-up before sundown.🤠😎🙂

Cinn May 7, 2020 If you don't have reservations to get to, you may just want to stop along the way at different viewpoints, etc. so just drive as long as you feel comfortable and not tired. A couple of hours before dark, look for places to overnight (with various websites...  more

Habadabeer May 7, 2020 We make a concerted effort (not always successfully) to stick to the 330 rule: never drive more than 3 1/2 hours, never arrive at our destination after 3:30. Our travel days are so much better when we stick to the plan!

Rob & Barb / Retirees In Training May 7, 2020 Totally depends on your driver(s) and what you feel comfortable with as well as the terrain. Were you truckers before RVing? If so you may think 400 miles is no problem. On the other hand, are you worn out after 100 miles? And mountainous terrain is usual...  more

BLSMSS (Brenda &Marc) May 7, 2020 Depending on our start time. Usually no more then 6 hours or 350-500 miles. We try not to drive at night. We have driven early as sun was coming up. It depends on my husband, he does all the driving.
