June 4I have a three way fridge in my 2010 Dutchmen class C. It was working fine in gas mode, I'm boondocking in a very windy place, until I turn on generator and switched from gas to auto. When I turned gen off and switch back to gas only mode fridge looses al...  more

Bob & Rene June 4 Gas mode should not affect the fridge light. When you shut generator down your 12 volt battery should allow your fridge light to work and operate your spark igniter for the gas mode of fridge. If not your 12 volt battery might be the problem

MRJohnston June 4 When you say “lights are on”, do you mean the eyebrow (indicator) lights?  No indicators lights with generator off?  No interior fridge light?  If that’s the case, like Bob & Rene said, low battery.

GAPeach0519 June 4 Will batteries charge back up with gen running? I usually just use my solar to keep batteries charged but used my instant pot earlier and noticed they got lower than normal.

Robbie & Alice June 4 Did you run your house batteries below 50%?  Sounds like your house batteries are dead.  With generator off, does anything work that is 12 volt?
      • GAPeach0519
Bob & Rene June 4 I don’t know anything about solar but if you have no power to anything without generator running I believe your batteries are dead

GAPeach0519 June 4 No lighs work nor can I bring slide in or out with gen off. I thought it may be a leveling issue so I brought slide in and made RV perfectly level..tried putting slide back out and had to turn gen on to do it. I was using my instant pot earlier with just ...  more

MRJohnston June 4 If your batteries didn’t go down into the 11V  you should be ok.  The generator may have to run 6 hours or so.  You want your batteries to read 12.7V at a rest (no power going in or out for about an hour). Try to never run your batteries do...  more

MRJohnston June 4 The 14.6V you are seeing is the charge rate, not what the battery voltage is.   You have to let the batteries set for awhile before taking a reading.

David (the Gypsy) June 5 I have found in my past experience that the ground cable going to the frame has a big factor in how my batteries are charging. This may not be the case here but I think its worth while checking and making sure your ground is properly grounded.

GAPeach0519 June 5 Thanks. I ran gen about 3 hrs before I had to turn it off and batteries were showing 12.6 when I turned it off. Still no power in rig without gen. Praying in a.m. I can run gen longer to try to figure things out but my solar on roof should bring batteries...  more

Rich & Janelle Nuding June 4 There could be a fuse blown between the battery and 12v system. When generator is running you are powered thru the converter. If some reason your not getting power from batters to your 12v system. Check for a blown fuse That’s asumming your battery...  more

Yank June 10 A flat 12 Volt fuse will be good as long as there is no break between the two prongs. If you see a break you will need to replace with a like fuse. If you have no test light check the fusees.

MRJohnston June 5 Do you have a multimeter?  Anyone around you that you could borrow one?  Sounds almost like the main (catastrophic) fuse is bad or you flipped an inline breaker.

Dan&Jo June 7 Just a suggestion, does your refrigerator have an 'AUTO' setting?! Why I ask is that my switch went bad on a 3 way refrigerator and would only work if left in 'AUTO' position. 12V/Gas both dead but all lights worked too. Best of luck
