June 23, 2020Hello everyone. I am hoping for some help and advice. We have had a lot of rain lately and for the past three days every time it rains we have water coming in from the AC unit above the island sink in our rig and dropping from the slide area above the din...  more

Kislandbchgrl June 23, 2020 It’s probably from the high humidity. Our camper does that too.

Gail&Bill June 23, 2020 Check the seal on the AC. You can remove the inside AC cover to look at the seal. If that is where it's leaking, just snug up the bolts, but don't completely crush the seal. Also, go up top, remove the cover, and make sure the drain holes in the tray are ...  more

Andy & Maureen T June 23, 2020 Gail&Bill gave a great recommendation. A visual inspection (roof and inside) is best. Run a hose on the roof if you have to. Do not assume it is just condensation.

Jim Z June 23, 2020 If it only does it when it rains it most likely is not condensation then.

T and A (Our Half Dozen RV Life) June 23, 2020 Yeah it does it bad when it rains and continues a little while after it rains. So maybe it is a blockage. Im gonna check it out after we get set up in the morning at our Home base Campground in the morning. Thanks for your advice.

Don (DOC) June 23, 2020 What year is your rig? If it is a blockage the leak would show up when you run the a/c not just when it rain comes..    As mentioned before look up from the inside with the ceiling cover removed for possible moisture (rain water). There are two ...  more

Jenna & The ZARGON June 23, 2020 Yes, you would think brand new things would not be broken.. but all too often, they are broke from the git-go!  We bought a NEW picked up @ the Factory ClassA and I can't begin to tell you how many things were broke, done wrong, not done at all. ...  more

Terry & Donna Schroeder June 23, 2020 We had the same thing happen to a new rig bought in 2018 and the dealer had to tighten the bolts holding the AC down as they were not tightened to specs and when it rained the water came through the AC inlet inside the camper.  Bolts were not tight e...  more

Tink & Chuck June 23, 2020 We had just the opposite. We had the bolts over tightened and caused a crack in our gasket. This allowed the rain water to leak in.
As a new rig, you need to take it in and get it fixed before the leak causes more damage.

Ramblers June 23, 2020 Drain hole in our a/c unit was plugged up with debris. Removed cover, cleared drain hole and added another one in a safe place so less likely to plug up. That was over 2 years ago and all is still fine
    • T and A (Our Half Dozen RV Life)
Wildheart June 23, 2020 Yeah, it's pretty much either that there's an excess of condensation being produced inside the unit and it has nowhere else to go (I had that happen last year a couple times, and just put a folded-up rag underneath until it stopped dripping); or you need ...  more

Rick & Lil June 24, 2020 Since you mention "every time it rains", I don't feel ....right now, that your source is from the A/C unit. Water leaks in a RV are hard to find and detrimental to the RV. They MUST be found immediately and fixed before expensive or irrepairable damage oc...  more

Ramblers June 24, 2020 Good point and suggestions. I had assumed the a/c was running and it was raining so high humidity caused the a/c to pull lots of water, condensation.

Packratphyls June 24, 2020 Should check all seams for dryrot
