pokeysRVadventures July 12, 2020 I travel full time and use one of my brother's address as my permanent and pay bills online. Anything needed sent to his address (rarely) he sends to where I am.

Bernie P July 12, 2020 I would suggest you contact a Mail Forwarding Service in Florida and keep your Florida Domicile. I use MyRVmail.com out of Crestview FL.  If you are not going to own property in Michigan, you definately do not want to change to a Michigan Residency.&...  more

Bernie P July 12, 2020 P.S.  I am a full timer from Michigan and currently summer in Michigan to be near family and winter in either Florida or Arizona depending on which friends I want to visit.  But, as I said above I have my Domicile in Florida.

Candice "On the Road Again" July 14, 2020 Thanks so much Bernie!!! So glad I checked. That was a close one. I have lived in Charlotte/Lee County SW Fl since 1989 and worked in 3 Hospitals, so have lots of friends for local address. I do appreciate your advice. I did sit next to u at your c...  more

The Rolling Stones July 12, 2020 You DO NOT want to change your address to Michigan. Florida has no income tax, lower sales tax, lower registration fees and comparable if not lower insurance rates. As long as you are moving every 6 months or so you have not ‘Moved’ to Michigan and theref...  more

Andy Holleman July 12, 2020 Where you register your RV doesn't have anything to do with your residency.  I'd look at various states for taxes and where you want to say you "live." www.49dollarmontanaregisteredagent.com/montana/rv-llc?gclid=Cj0KCQjw6ar4BRDn...  more

Larry Holbrook July 12, 2020 I'm no lawyer, nor even an expert, but a domicile is the location you plan to return to - us RVers have an opportunity to sort of choose a domicile not normally afforded to our sticks & bricks friends - obviously lower costs are a major factor - things li...  more

Jim & Sharon Ham July 12, 2020 Most of our post-retirement friends can hardly wait to sell their homes and move to a condo in Florida or a deluxe RV Resort where they own the RV pad.  FL will be much cheaper residency than MI for sure.  Presume you already have FL plates and ...  more

Larry Holbrook July 13, 2020 Most states have a similar law - the only time I've heard those laws enforced were cases where the police patroled school parking lots ticketing out of state plates - With us RVers, it's more complicated - if you do attempt to change your li...  more

Jim & Sharon Ham July 14, 2020 Apparently time to be in a state and claim residency seems to vary from a single day in South Dakota, to 90 days to buy new plates for CA.  Friends of ours living in a rented condo in Naples, FL were told after 6 months plus one day, they could decla...  more
