Colorado KidWhy didn't I think of that? Tips and Tricks:
September 7, 2020I hate to bring up a shitty subject, but I'd like some advice on Blue Boys! I'm looking at the Camco 36 Gallon and the Barker 42 Gallon. 2 Wheels or 4? Air tires or plastic? Thanks in advance!

Dreamers and Travelers/ Tom & Prescott September 7, 2020 One suggestion- don't use for black! IF you don't have to. Besides being real messy & smelly the bigger the heavier or more disaster. Towing long distance can be problematic. We use 25 gal blueboy only for gray water from kitchen & shower. We man...  more

Colorado Kid September 7, 2020 I know what you're saying about black, but (unfortunately) we're going to need to for black in Quartzsite. Don't want to break down a 45' rig 2x a month just to go dump black.

TarHeels September 7, 2020 We bought the Barker last summer and it works well. Like the tubed tires on it and it has grease fitting for wheels. We have to use a macerator account RV tanks  are lower than  Barker. I dont use the gauge you see sticking up. One problem is th...  more

Colorado Kid September 7, 2020 How do you carry / move it from one site to another? The Camco has a method to strap it to your ladder. I'm not yet pro or con on either,.. they both seem to have good points and not so good points. I'm thinking if I could retrofit the Camco with air tire...  more

Don & Bonnie September 7, 2020 Get yourself a 55 gal plastic barrel and fit it with ends on one of the  bung to accommodate a shutoff valve and a fitting for your sewer hose. Then get a macerator   pump. You can put the barrel in the back of your pickup. Also use a couple of ...  more

LionRampant September 7, 2020 Since you're going to Quartzsite, there are honey wagons that make runs out into the desert to pump out trailers.  There are also water trucks come to your location.  We did this when we were down there a couple of years ago.  Just giving y...  more

Don & Bonnie September 8, 2020 Last time I was down there a couple of years ago the honey wagon guys were hard to find. We stayed at Plamosa on the east side of the highway, water and sewer were in this area and  fairly close to where we were parked, as was garbage dump, $180 buck...  more

LionRampant September 8, 2020 @Colorado Kid - The last time I checked it was about $40 and they pump out all your tanks.  If you're buying a blue boy just for this trip then this would be a viable option.  If you plan on using it multiple times then purchase one to carry wit...  more
