SuncruiserFunTeam November 22, 2020 The "pop off" pressure relief valve is a thread size that is unique to rv's and is mostly only found in rv specific stores. However, if the water heater is overfull it will always push out the heated water due to lack of expansion room. Turn off the main ...  more

MamaFrizz November 22, 2020 Agree! Regular maintenance: Flushing the water heater and replacing the element every few years, can really extend the life of the water heater. BernerMom Paula November 22, 2020 I will try this, didn't get to it today but will let you know if it works. I do flush the water heater at least once a year, and drain it for winter.

Up date, tried this, still leaking, time to replace it I think.

ValerieJane December 10, 2020 Hi BernermomPaula, for months I have just been reading and reading and trying to learn as much as I can. I am still naive in many many ways. Laugh with me, please not at me... How do you flush a hot water heater? Mine is electric not propane. Thank you so...  more

BernerMom Paula December 10, 2020 Valerie, I turn it off and let it cool down, then unscrew the drain plug and let the water drain out, then I turn on the water pump ( or hose if connected to a faucet) and let it run for a bit to flush out the tank. Put some teflon tape on the threads of ...  more

R&P Robbins November 22, 2020 Sometimes exercising the valve will stop it from leaking. Try lifting the valve and let it snap back a couple of times, see if this works. If not then I would consider replacement.

BernerMom Paula November 22, 2020 Yes, I used teflon tape when I put it back on, it is leaking through the nozzle through the pressure relief valve system.
