DuckDuckGooseNeckWhy didn't I think of that? Tips and Tricks:
January 30I just bought my first trailer and it doesn’t have a lot of storage in the kitchen. I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to use the space above the cupboards? I thought of some baskets but wondering how I would get them to stay while pulling th...  more

Donna Luke-Peterson January 30 Hello fellow RVer!  We are full time RV travelers.  I keep baskets up there (and a few fake plants) and they are held down on the bottoms with black heavy-duty hook & loop tape (velcro) that I bought on Amazon.  They don't move on their own, but we are ab...  more

DuckDuckGooseNeck January 31 Thank you so much! Hadn’t thought of Velcro. Is there a brand you recommend?
    • DuckDuckGooseNeck
Stana F. January 30 Maybe Velcro on the bottom of the baskets would work since it’s in a place that you normally would not see unless you are on a step ladder looking that the top of the cabinet. Congrats on your first trailer!! Enjoy!!

Ted&Sharon January 30 We just set miscellaneous items up there, and since ours has a ledge on the front edge, whatever we put up there just stays in place.  Paper towels, paper plates, paper cups, dried hashbrowns, mashed potato bags, & plastic tubs for washing dishes.  It's a...  more

DuckDuckGooseNeck January 31 Lucky to have have the ledge. Mine has sides but no front edge. I am excited to be able to use the space!

Dejavela January 31 You can find different size tension bars on Amazon. Or you can put eye screws inside cabinets and use bungee cords. Also, that rubbery shelf liner helps to keep things from sliding around. I found shoe boxes with lids to be the best boxes (be sure they...  more

Ray & Ann January 31 I don't understand why those dinning booth benches don't have drawers facing the kitchen. Mine has the converter and relays in it that could have been moved back and made room for drawers :(

DuckDuckGooseNeck January 31 I totally agree!! We don’t have anything in ours but how inconvenient to have to go through the seat. My hubby is looking for a way to make the benches more usable like doors and drawers. :)

Stana F. January 31 We are blessed. Ours has drawers on both sides that are the length of the bench seats. We can also access things through the bench as well if we need to. It’s great storage space.

Frederick L Proffitt January 31 Sterile baskets at Walmart is what I use. Also, you can use the small double sided tape to secure them in place. Good luck.

Figment January 31 Amazon sells small tension rods, so when you open the door everything stays

DuckDuckGooseNeck January 31 Thank you, I will have to look for these.

Doug+Connie January 31 Put sticky Velcro on the basket bottoms and the top of cabinets to keep baskets in place, but able to take them down to retrieve items.

ActiveLife January 31 Make drawers under the dinette seats so they are easier to get into. Mine roll on ball bearings. The photo was taken before I had it completed. Hope that helps you.

Dan&Jo February 1 We had cupboards like that and put a small decorative molding strip on the top/front just high enough to give about 1/4" above the cupboard. We also put rubberized drawer liner to cushion the stuff we put up there.

Kristina1 February 5 Have bought the alien tape. It holds things in place wonderfully. Plus it is waterproof and you can remove it when needed and reuse it.

PepperC February 7 Where your mirror is, I put a thinnish tall cabinet with doors. I uused that for most of my canned cood and breads and so on. It was a lifesaver.

DuckDuckGooseNeck February 13 Any chance you remember where you got the cabinet or did you build it yourself?

Juli n Dave February 11 We have a bit of a lip on our cupboards and it's just enough to hold the canvas baskets in place while travelling. I've never had one shift on me. I store lesser used items: extra TP and paper towels, table cloths, reusable shopping bags, large garbage ba...  more
