MunzieWhy didn't I think of that? Tips and Tricks:
February 7Is an sun shade worth it for the awning to keep it cooler and shadier? We live in a hot area for the summer months. Would a tarp work just as well? Looking for tips as have a hard time with the heat and often camp off grid so a/c can’t be used. Thankyou.

Beans and I on the Loose February 7 Look up Aluminet. It is an aluminum breathable mesh tarp. Wind passes through unlike a solid tarp plus the reflective quality of the silver mesh really keeps the heat out. Comes in various degrees of density of mesh to suit your need.

OscarsMom2 February 7 We have two mesh tarps that we can attach to the awning to provide shade.  One we purchased at Harbor Freight and the other one is a “sail” shade we got at Costco.  I know that they were a lot cheaper than the ones that are made for an awning. From what I...  more

Seann (the Canadian) February 7 I also have a sunshade, the nice thing about it is you can still see through it

Dave&Jo February 7 I also have sunshade. You can see through it and they say it blocks 80% of the sunshine.

Brian&Nadine February 8 We put 90% sunshades on our sticks and bricks patio and it gives us a lot of privacy and makes it a lot more comfortable . in the sun.

Kshipman February 7 We just got one and installed to our awning today after trying to sit outside in the heat in FL. and getting sun burned. We love it. Ordered from Amazon. Wish we had bought one way before now.

Denny & Barb February 8 Our awning will retract with the wind.  So, I do not attach anything to the awning.

SilverSport February 8 We made ours to attach to the awning, also added a mister line, works OK, pump not strong enough to get a fine mist

Jeff.Phillips February 21 I have a sun shade, one of those black mesh ones that you can see through and it attaches to the awning. If you choose to get one, I would suggest getting Awning Supports, something like pictured. I know the mesh screen may not seem like much, but if it s...  more
