February 19I've been boondocking at an LTVA since October. I've been using a blueboy to empty my tanks since I have a TT. My black tank lever has become stuck. I've applied WD40 and tapped it gently with a hammer in the hope the vibration would get it moving again. ...  more

bob and Eve Hay February 19 trade it in. No  go to a camping place and buy a new valve and change it.

TheClearyClan February 19 Someting may be in the way. Sometimes when they drill out the holes for the toilet or other plumbing connections the "black disk" falls into the tank and may not be removed during manufacturing. If you do not have one you can get a plumber's snake for dra...  more

Jim & Sharon Ham February 19 A trick that worked for us was to drill a small hole, 1/8 inch drill bit, in the top part of the slide valve, just below the handle.  Insert the "straw" of a can of silicone spray and blast it.  Silicone worked better for us than WD40, but the straw wand ...  more

Beans and I on the Loose February 19 Occasionally that has happened with me. I’ve always been able to get it moving by working it slowly. Lift a bit, push back. Lift a bit, push back. Repeat over and over and it has worked itself free. At least for me I’ve been able to get it moving again.

Gypsy Witch and Persephone February 19 I've done that in the past and it worked. This time it's REALLY stuck.

        RicU February 19 Gypsy,
I have had levers and doors freeze on me too. Repeat applying WD-40, Drenching the interior length. Sometimes you might need a continuous LOW heat. This has not been a normal winter.

Pete Haidinyak February 19 WD-40 is more of a solvent than a lubricant. Is the lever directly on the valve? If you have access to the valve you can try Silicon spray on the valve the best you can. Try to get the area when the valve slides to open the tank. It will probably take som...  more

Pete Haidinyak February 19 Just to throw it out there, you can try pouring really hot water on it.

JoeyJ55 February 19 I'm assuming that it's stuck in the closed position, right?

Leo Flott " the other one " February 19 If you're talking about the indicator for fullness level ? Use 1/2 cup of dawn dish soap . Fill tank with clean water . Dump and repeat two or three times . If it is the dump valve try the dawn , fill let soak and use blaster name brand lube on valve . Good luck !

Robert & Tizo the dog February 19 Soap really is helpful in black tanks. Like giving the tank an enema

Don & Bonnie February 20 How cold is it there? It might be frozen if it got real cold as it did in Texas

Fred & Sandra February 20 use boiling water to warm or a blow dryer on hot to soften what may be stuck to the valve. not a guarantee to work every time on those sticky situations 😆

Keith and Shirley February 20 I sure don't know about all valves but many I have seen had the slot where the valve blade slides put together with several small maybe # 10 machine screws.  If your valve has those small bolts, they can be loosened slightly and the valve blade will be lo...  more

JoeyJ55 February 21 What Keith and Shirley suggested. That was the reason for my question on whether it was stuck in the open or closed position, once you have the the valve freed up and the tank empty you can take it apart completely and give it a good cleaning and lubricat...  more
