    Randy & SueRV Repair Club:
February 26wondering, we have one standard marine battery on our 2020 Cougar that is towed with a 2015 F150. Two talking points. 1) Ford "tweaked" the 7-pin trailer connection on their F150s between 2015-2019 to no longer send power to charge the trailer batter(s). ...  more

The Rolling Stones February 26 They make charge units that can come right off your tow vehicle battery and run back to your trailer plug. Look on eTrailer.com You will not get more Amp Hours from two 6V deep cycle batteries, wired in series to make 12V. The way you get more Amp Hou...  more

SouthParkSteve February 26 I bought a 2020 F150 in the fall, so I have only used it to tow my trailer once--for a very short 2 day trip where we stayed at a FHU campground.  Do you know if the 2020 doesn't charge the trailer batteries either?  I didn't notice a problem, but I was n...  more

Tom & Barb February 26 Two Trojan T105 6 volt batteries in series IS the optimal setup for lead acid technology, if you have ventalation to the battery compartment. Those are flooded batteries, not sealed, so you need some venting to the battery compartment. T105 6V batteries...  more

TarHeels February 27 Yes Lithium does do all that but have you seen what lithium mining and what happens to lithium after they are dead. They cannot be recycled. Lead acid is recyclable.

Benji February 26 Forget the golf cart batteries unless you’re boondocking and adding solar. I’d think you could put a fused pair of number 10 Wires in cable from the battery with a disconnect and connect it the trailer battery so the car alternator charges the batte...  more

Dan&Jo February 27 There is a Youtube video that states you can turn on charging on the F150, maybe it will work for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aX6HrPUnB8

John T February 27 Randy and Sue, good questions let me provide some guidance which may answer your concerns: 1) For typical dry RV camping, a Full True Deep Cycle battery, NOT a cheaper dual purpose hybrid so called RV/Marine, is preferred. That's NOT ...  more

Randy & Sue February 27 John T, thanks for the detailed reply. I do not have solar, you raise an interesting solution #5 introducing DC to CD. Will need to look into this solution - thanks much

Tom & Barb February 27 I think John T meant DC to DC converter. Something like this one. www.amazon.com/Renogy-Battery-Batteries-Multi-stage-Charging/dp/B07Q4SVX3M/ref=sr_1_3?crid=58P5BU2AJSPM&dchild=1&keywords=renogy+dc+to+dc+charger&qid=1614481564&sprefix=renogy+DC+...  more

Bandit455 March 1 My '04 E350 had all the wiring in place, but ford intentionally left out either the Maxi Fuse or the relay ( I forget which). Found it in the manual, opened a fuse panel under the hood, and installed it.
