August 10We're looking for a 5th wheel or trailer and am wondering how ya'll deal with taking your dogs along. On one hand we want to take our two dogs, but on the other we may be limited as to what we can do when dogs aren't allowed. Do you feel tied down with y...  more

Full Time Dream RV August 10 There are many pros and cons for traveling with pets. Many people use a monitoring system like the waggle to monitor the temperature in the RV for their animals. You need to be able to have cell or wifi for this. Many parks frown on leaving dogs unattende...  more

Matt & Mary August 10 We don't have much of an issue with our 2 dogs.  If you buy a cramp ground, you have to find that allow pets.

Wayne&Jackie August 10 Do you leave them home now when you go out for the day?  If so, why would it be any different in a 5th wheel.  We leave ours for a few hours at a time.  Unless they are "barkers" or destructive I don't see a problem.

RV Tales August 12 This is exactly why I have not had a second thought about selling all my belongings and buying an RV to travel full-time with a dog and 2 cats.  They do just find when I work outside the home for 10-12 hour days now, so the fact that they will most likely...  more

Biminitwist August 14 When we're home they have a doggy door and fence yard, not so with a 5th wheel that would be parked in a strange place. I understand what you mean but traveling and being left alone in a small space is different than being at home.

Lee Mckercher August 10 Personally I would love to have a pet , I don't hang around the rig everyday and my tow is a Harley so taking them with wouldn't make sense . If I could figure it out I sure as hell would .

Seann (the Canadian) August 10 We have a guy here in town that rides world war II motorcycle and it has a messenger bag on the front handlebars and his wee little dog sits in that with the leather helmets and eye goggles on and the dog seems to love going for rides in that

Candy and the dogs August 10 My dogs stay in the camper with air on or windows open when weather is reasonable. I leave them up to 4 hours. They don’t bark. If yours barks because you are gone, you may have an issue. Other than that, they are the reason for my adventures so what else...  more

Elaine&Scott August 13 We don't have a problem with our 3 (2 are 7y/o and the other is 9) dachshunds. We just find places where pets are allowed. As for leaving them in the trailer by themselves, their fine. We do keep calming chews in the frig if we know we're going to be away...  more

Biminitwist August 14 Thanks everyone for your comments and food for thought.  We'll probably take them with on a test run and see how they do, i.e. sneak back to see if they're barking and behaving!

Umsy (Joan Smith) August 14 Ask your neighbor campers if they caused a disturbance. They may sense your sneaking back and bark in excitement or quiet down if they've been barking.

cwaweeks3 August 17 I have 4 little dogs that go with us everywhere. I purchased a security camera and wifi hotspot to set up so I can check in on them if I leave. I usually turn on the tv for noise and give them chews to keep them occupied. And of course, leave the AC on.
